In Delhi...

Well we made it safely to Delhi…Although a little bit late. Our flight was delayed 5 hours due to fog in Delhi…Which normally wouldn’t have mattered, except our ride to the train was picking us up at the hotel at 5am…at exactly the same time that our plane was landing. After some frantic emails, we changed up our tour and got a driver to take us to Agra… I thought I had done some pretty terrifying passengering while in Nairobi…and lately, on the back of the bike in Ho Chi Minh City but I think Delhi might be the craziest city to drive in.

So off to Agra we went…and the Taj Mahal made the wild ride worth it…It was a stunning sight that can’t be captured in pictures… (Although the one with me jumping is pretty cool…)

After the Taj, we had a quick visit to the Red Fort and some carpet, marble and stone maker displays…then we made plans to catch our train home. The train was scheduled to leave at 8:10 pm but at 6:30, they already knew it was at least 45 minutes late…so far. The night before, the same train was delayed four hours. At that point, we decided to go back with Brij Mohan, our driver..for a six hour drive (rather than the two hour train ride)
When the night comes, driving in India becomes a whole different game. They say to drive in India, you need three things: good horn, good brakes and good luck! What made the ride home even crazier was the fact that at midnight tonight, the oil and gas workers are going on strike. Every gas station was lined up and blocking the highway. After the first three stations we stopped at were out of diesel, we gave up… (we had enough to get home). In the city, all the 24 hour gas stations are closed as they are empty…
Does anyone know exactly where planes get their fuel from? Maybe we’re not making it to our build in Trivandrum on Saturday? Tomorrow we’re supposed to be going on Delhi city tour. I don’t think Brij Mohan thought I was very funny when I suggested we go by tuk tuk….
You know what they say…”A bad day on vacation is better than the best day at work…” (unless you have my job, cause they’re one and the same!)

Just watched the news with the line ups at the gas pumps. Everyone was on their little scooters. But I guess we have thumbs for a reason. Stay safe it is supposed to get down to -25 on Wed yeah.
